Croatian 36-year-old giant Ivo Karlovic beat US Donald Young 6-3 6-3 in the final at Delray Beach to become the oldest winner on the ATP Tour since Jimmy Connors in Tel Aviv 1987. Karlovic claimed his second title in Delray Beach five years after his win over Ernests Gulbis.
In the final Karlovic hit 13 aces bringing the total to 91 aces in the whole week breaking his own tournament record of 89 aces. He fended off all the seven break points he faced. He never dropped his serve in the five matches he played during the week in the whole tournament.
At 3-3 Young made a double fault and dropped serve when Karlovic hit a forehand volley winner. Karlovic hit three double faults to hand Young a chance to break back when Karlovic hit three double faults. The Croatian saved it with three aces.
