“I am really sorry. I really love this tournament and I had a great week. I went to the physio for treatment and I tried to play at 11.30. Then I had physio again and tried to play at 2.15. I could not serve. I could not play the way I wanted, so I had to pull of the tournament”, said Suarez Navarro.

Earlier this week she had to save eight match points in the second round marathon match against Alison Van Uytvanck in the longest clash so far this year as it lasted 3 hours and 19 minutes. She will be back in the top-10 for the 27th week in his her career.
To make up for the final which could not be player Petkovic played an exhibition match against former World Number 1 Kim Cljsters who is now the Director of the Diamond Games Tournament in Antwerp. Clijsters won the exhibition match with 5-3.
“Right before we went on court I was warming up and they told me the news. At first I was shocked because I did not know anything about the physical pain. I was sad because I really like Carla. She is a great person and always friendly and positive. She has a tremendous amount of talent. You can never really enjoy the title when you don’t fight for it. I am happy I had a great week but I have mixed emotions”, said Petkovic
