Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic beat Andrea Vavassori and Simone Bolelli to book their spot in the semifinals at the Nitto ATP Finals

Top seeds Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic overcame Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori 6-3 3-6 10-3 after 1 hour and 19 minutes to book their spot in the semifinal at the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin. 

Arevalo and Pavic, who won the Roland Garros doubles title beating Bolelli and Vavassori in the final, have guaranteed their finish as Year-End World Doubles number 1.   

Arevalo and Pavic converted their break points at 15-40 on Vavassori’s serve in the eighth game and served out the first set with a hold at love. 

Bolelli and Vavassori went up a 0-40 lead on return in the second game of the second set, but Arevalo and Pavic won three consecutive points. Bolelli and Vavassori broke serve on the deciding point as Arevalo made a double fault. The Italian team broke for the second time on the deciding point to race out to a 4-0 lead. Bolelli rallied from 30-40 down to hold serve for 5-0. Arevalo and Pavic pulled one break bak in the eighth game for 3-5. Bolelli made a double fault at 40-30, but the home team closed out on the second set point to force the match to the super tie-break. 

Arevalo and Pavic earned four mini-breaks to race out to 9-2. Bolelli and Vavassori pulled one of mini-breaks, but Arevalo and Pavic won the final point on serve to advance to the semifinal.Arevalo and Pavic set up a semifinal against Henry Patten and Harri Heliovaara, who finished first in the Mike Bryan Group.
