The Billie Jean King Cup Finals will feature three top ten players and two Grand Slam players. The Spanish city of Malaga will host this event from 18-20 November at the Palacio de Deportes José Maria Martin Carpena Arena in Malaga.
Canada will defend the title with a team that features 2019 US Open champion Bianca Andreescu, 2021 US Open finalist Leylah Fernandez and last week’s Guadalajara semifinalist Marina Stakusic.
World number 3 and US Open finalist Jessica Pegula is the highest-ranked player. Pegula will be joined in the US team by world number 10 Danielle Collins.
This year’s Roland Garros and Wimbledon finalist Jasmine Paolini will lead the Italian team, who finished runner-up to Canada in last year’s final of the Billie Jean King Cup. Paolini will be joined by her Paris Olympic doubles gold medal partner Sara Errani.
Four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka played for the Japanese team for the first time in three years in Japan’s 3-1 qualifying round against Kazakhstan. Osaka won her first match since 2018 against Yulia Putintseva.
Emma Raducanu, who claimed the US Open title in 2021, won both of her singles matches in Great Britain’s 3-1 win over France from a set down. The other stand-out names are world number 2 Paula Badosa and Karolina Muchova, two-time US Open semifinalist and 2023 Roland Garros finalist, last week’s Guadalajara Open champion Magdalena Frech, Australian number 1 Olivia Gadecki, who finished runner-up to Frech in Guadalajara, and Anna Karolina Schmiedlova from Czechia, who finished fourth at the Olympic Games in Paris.
