Hubert Hurkacz has split with coach Craig Boynton after five years in the wake of Hurkacz’s early exit from the US Open.
Hurkacz has had a turbulent season which included injuring his knee when match point down at Wimbledon which resulted in the Pole missing the Olympics.
There has been a mixture of good and bad results for Hurkacz as the Pole still remains a key component of the world’s top 20.
However a second round exit at the US Open against an in-form Jordan Thompson was enough for Hurkacz to split ways with his American coach.
Speaking on his Instagram Craig Boynton announced the news that he and Hurkacz would no longer be working together, “What a special ride these past 5 years have been,” Boynton stated.
“We have experienced so many unbelievable highs and have grown so much together, however, sometimes good things must come to an end. Hubi and I have mutually agreed to go our separate ways. So grateful for our time together.
“I am looking forward to a new chapter in my life and the opportunities that will come.”
It remains unclear who Hurkacz will employ next as his coach but the Pole will look to finish a frustrating season strongly.
