Ubitennis would like to wish all of our readers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Thank you for your support throughout this year where we have written more than 1600 articles about the world of tennis!
2023 saw Novak Djokovic extend his record Grand Slam title tally to 24 after he won three out of four major events played. However, the Serbian came up short at Wimbledon to Carlos Alcaraz who became only the third Spanish man in history to win the tournament. Meanwhile, Daniil Medvedev captured five titles on the ATP Tour and Jannik Sinner won four, as well as guiding his country to Davis Cup glory.
On the WTA Tour, French Open champion Iga Swiatek was briefly dethroned from the No.1 spot by Australian Open winner Aryna Sabalenka. Swiatek returned to the top spot during the WTA Finals which she won. 19-year-old Coco Gauff claimed the biggest title of her career at Flushing Meadows and Marketa Vondrousova was an unlikely champion at Wimbledon. In total, 11 players won multiple WTA titles during this season.
In a sport that has one of the most commanding schedules, the 2024 season officially begins in under a week with plenty of storylines to follow. There are the comebacks of Rafael Nadal and Naomi Osaka. Who will prove to be the main challengers to Djokovic and Swiatek? Can Sinner continue his surge of form from the end of this year into next? Who will claim the Olympic titles?
These questions will be answered in due course and Ubitennis will be covering it all.
But for now, here is a special Christmas message from our founder Ubaldo Scanagatta.
