Casper Ruud had to overcome the windy weather and Sebastian Ofner to reach the Bastad semi-finals.
The Norwegian defeated Ofner 6-3 6-4 to claim his 19th win of the season on clay as he looks for a second ATP title this season.
Ruud broke on two occasions as he moved into the last four in Bastad as he looks to reclaim the title in Sweden.
However the world number four was unable to convert six of his break points and part of that was due to the windy conditions.
After the match Ruud admitted it was tricky conditions to play in but was happy to win in straight sets, “It was another tricky day in the wind here in Bastad,” Ruud told the ATP website.
“I am very happy to be through in two sets and of course when it is windy, it is tough to feel that you are playing great all the time. But it was good enough, steady enough.”
Ruud will now face rising Italian Lorenzo Musetti who is into his second semi-final of the year after a three set win over Filip Misolic.
It was a tough battle for the Italian who came from a set down before wrapping up the win 4-6 6-1 6-2.
In the main match of the day Andrey Rublev blasted past Alexander Zverev 6-2 6-3 in 69 minutes to reach the last four where he faces the in-form Francisco Cerundolo.
