Ons Jabeur is aiming to make more history as she looks to become the first Arab to qualify for the WTA Finals.
The Tunisian has had another consistent and stellar season having reached a grand slam quarter-final at Wimbledon in her run in 2021.
A comfortable win over Elina Svitolina in Chicago saw her win a record-equalling 43 wins for the season tied with Aryna Sabalenka.
Proof of her amazing season could have its rewards at the end of the season as she looks to qualify for the WTA Finals.
Should Jabeur qualify she would become the first Arab in history to qualify for the event and that’s something she’s determined to achieve, “I’m glad that I’m learning from my losses against her or against any other player,” Jabeur admitted to tennishead.
“The most important thing is the hard work through the years. I’m a different player right now. I have played a lot of matches, I have much more experience, and to manage the stress, to manage the fact that I had opportunities, it’s amazing to see that it’s paying off.
“Knowing I can be the first Arab to qualify, it’s really unbelievable, you know, and it’s more stress on me.”
Jabeur will be hoping she can manage her stress enough to earn a place in Guadalajara especially with the possible absence of Ash Barty and Naomi Osaka.
The world number 16 will play Elena Rybakina in the Chicago semi-finals before playing Indian Wells the week after.
