The world number one put on a clinic dispatching the world number 69 and home favorite Kei Nishikori.

Novak Djokovic’s run for a golden slam continued today as he demolished the local favorite Kei Nishikori on Center Court at the Ariake Tennis Park beating him handily 6-2, 6-0 in one hour and 10 minutes.

The Belgrade native seemed to dominate from the word play and got the early break and jumped out to a 4-1 lead. The top seed even had a chance to go up a double break but the Shimane, Japan native was able to save that breakpoint.

The world number one would serve out the first set in less than 40 minutes and continued to dominate in the second set after saving an early breakpoint from Nishikori, he held serve and went back pushing for the early break.

He earned two breakpoints the very next game and broke for the early 2-0 lead and it was cruise control as the Japanese player had no answers for the world number one.

After consolidating the break Djokovic went searching for the double break and after earning two more chances to break the world number 69 would double fault to give the double break.

With Nishikori serving to stay in the match the world number one looked like he wanted to end the match right away and after getting two looks at a match point on his opponent he would clinch the win at the third time of asking.

Djokovic advances to the semifinals where he will face the winner of the quarterfinal match between Alexander Zverev and Jeremy Chardy and looks very much the favorite to bring home the gold medal.
