Stefanos Tsitsipas bounced back from his first round defeat against Frances Tiafoe at Wimbledon with a 7-6 (7-2) 6-3 win over Dominik Koepfer in 1 hour and 45 minutes to advance to the quarter finals at the European Open in Hamburg.
Tsitsipas won 86 % of his first service points and his 12 winners in the opening set.
Tsitsipas was broken in the first game of the opening set, but he broke straight back in the second game. Tsitsipas saved four break points in the 12th game to force the first set to the tie-break. Tsitsipas earned four set points at 6-2 and and sealed the tie-break on his first opportunity when Koepfer hit the net with a backhand.
Tsitsipas earned his first break of the second set in the seventh game at deuce to take a 4-3 lead and closed out the matche with his second break in the ninth game.
Tstsipas set up a quarter final match against filip Krajinovic, who battled past Phillip Kohlschreiber 7-5 4-6 6-3. Krajinovic hit nine aces and won 73% of his first service points.
Krajinovic will be aiming to reach his first ATP Tour semifinal since Rotterdam last February. Laslo Djere came back from one break down in the opening set to beat Brazilian qualifier Thiago Seyboth Wild 7-6 (7-1) 6-1.
