The Romanian world number three pulled out with an injury she suffered in her first match.
Simona Halep has officially pulled out of the Miami Open due to an injury she suffered in her first match, a win vs Caroline Garcia. In that match she had called for the trainer and took a medical timeout to work on her shoulder and right arm.
She mentioned afterwards in her post game press conference that she had recieved treatment for it before doing press and that she only felt pain when she served.
Halep took to social media to announce the unfortunate news.
This was her first tournament back after playing in Australia and she had said she had entered the tournament pain free and ready to go but the turnaround time wasn’t enough.
No official diagnosis has been given yet on the state of her injury so no timeline was given when she will make her return but if she does her next tournament will be the indoor clay court event in Stuttgart, Germany which starts on the 19th of April.
