On Tuesday, Patrick Mouratoglou launched the “Mouratoglou Tennis Center Jumeirah” in Dubai. The French coach already heads a very successful Academy in Cote d’Azur, but is trying to expand his brand via a commercial deal struck with Jumeirah, a big player in the business of luxury accommodations. The coach of Serena Williams promised that this new facility won’t be the last one opened under his aegis: “We are more than ready to take the next step in sharing our passion and expertise beyond our borders. This ‘Mouratoglou Tennis Center Jumeirah’ is the first of many more to come.”
The facility is slated to become an essential off-season hub for many top players, thanks to the presence of starred hotels like the Jumeirah Beach Hotel and the Medinat Jumeirah, where many have sojourned in the past, including Roger Federer, who has often prepared for the Australian Open in the United Arab Emirates because of the mild, favourable weather. The players who are already training at the new Tennis Centre include a resurgent Bianca Andreescu, who has missed the entire 2020 season after winning the 2019 US Open, as well as Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Kristina Mladenovic and Fiona Ferro.
