World Number One Ashleigh Barty and Sloane Stephens cruised into the third round of Wimbledon, losing a combined six games.

It was another impressive performance from the world number one Ash Barty as she cruised past Alison Van Uytvanck 6-1 6-3.

Five breaks of serve were enough for the Roland Garros champion as she now faces Harriet Dart or Beatriz Haddad Maia.

Meanwhile 9th seed Sloane Stephens only lost only two games against Yafan Wang as she could face a third round match with Johanna Konta next.

The Australian faced a different kind of test on Court two as she was facing a player that has a similar game to her as there were a lot of slices in the early stages.

However that didn’t seem to faze Barty early on as the Belgian had no answer to the top seed’s big hitting and immaculate point construction.

Whether it was at the net or at the back of the court, Barty just had all the answers as she raced to an early 5-0 lead and looked in control.

Despite the poor start, Van Uytvanck was hoping the memories of beating Garbine Muguruza 12 months ago on this court would inspire her.

A hold of serve definitely settled her nerves as she could try and relax into the match. Though it didn’t seem to effect the Australian as she held to seal the opening set.

It was more of the same from the 22 year-old in the second set as she continued to adapt and cause the Belgian all sorts of problems.

The extraordinary thing about today’s match was Barty had the weaker first serve percentage but was still able to do more with her serve unlike Van Uytvanck.

There was a moment of hope for the Belgian after recovering one of the breaks back in the second set to reduce the gap from 5-1 to 5-3.

But it turned into nothing more than hope as the world number one sealed the match with a sliced backhand and volley combination.

The win seals Barty’s 18th consecutive set and 14th consecutive win as she cements herself as a frontrunner for the Wimbledon title.

Next up for Barty will be Harriet Dart or Beatriz Haddad Maia.

Stephens Continues Wimbledon Charge

Meanwhile in other results, former US Open champion Sloane Stephens is through to round three after a 6-0 6-2 win over Yafan Wang.

After winning 81% of her points on first serve, Stephens set a real statement as she could play Johanna Konta in the last 32 on Saturday.

Qiang Wang was also a winner early on day three after beating Tamara Zidansek 6-1 6-2.
