Philipp Kohlschreiber is satisfied with his new aggressive style of tennis ahead of his fourth round clash with Pierre-Hughes Herbert in Indian Wells.

The German stunned Marin Cilic to make the last 16 after a 6-4 6-4 victory in 1 hour and 23 minutes, which saw Kohlschreiber re-capture some of his old form. Before Indian Wells the world number 37 had lost five matches this season and had not won back to back matches since Vienna last season.

However the 34 year old has put his new run of form in California down to an aggressive style of tennis that he has implemented, “I think my performance worked quite well from the start. I felt like Marin was maybe a bit nervous. I felt good. Played aggressive.”

He also admitted that he faced a battle in his first match but he had nothing to lose against the second seed Croatian, “My first match was a really tough battle with my opponent, with myself. I struggled a little bit more. Today, I tried to forget everything what happened, I’m Happy that it worked out. It’s also an easier match, nothing to lose, big stadium, a lot of support from the crowd, makes it maybe sometimes easier to play. On the other side, I really enjoy playing tennis still, even though if I’m sometimes not at my best.”

The German will look to continue his aggressive style of play when he plays Pierre-Hughes Herbert in the fourth round on Wednesday, as he looks to rejuvenate his tennis career and take advantage of a relatively weak draw.
