World number 15 Nick Kyrgios has pulled out of next week’s 500 event in Acapulco due to an ongoing elbow injury.
The Australian suffered the injury during his Davis Cup rubber with Alexander Zverev and it would appear that Kyrgios is still suffering from the injury. He announced his withdrawal via Instagram, explaining that he is ‘getting closer’:

Kyrgios, who also suffered from a hip injury last season, also withdrew from Rotterdam which took place last week. The latest news will come as a big blow to the Aussie who had such a good start to the season after winning the Brisbane title in the first week of the season and reaching the fourth round of the Australian Open.
The 22 year old will be hoping to be back in time for the ‘Sunshine Double’ in Indian Wells and Miami, where he had such good results last season. Especially in Miami where he pushed Roger Federer to his limits in that epic Semi-Final last year.
Although Kyrgios’ absence will be a huge blow for Acapulco and the tournament directors, the tournament will still possess 7 of the world’s top 10 players including the likes of Rafael Nadal, Alexander Zverev and Dominic Thiem.
The tournament starts on the 26th of February.
