Roger Federer thrashed David Goffin 6-1 6-2 to reach the Basel Final, where he will face Juan Martin Del Potro.
The world number two flawlessly beat the Belgian in 59 minutes to seal his place into an eighth ATP final of 2017. The result also means that Goffin will have to wait until next week until Paris to seal his place into London.
The first saw Federer dominate most of the rallies and create break point opportunities on Goffin’s serve as the Belgian was punished for his cautious approach.
The Swiss maestro broke twice in the first set for a 5-1 lead in the first set. He used his backhand effectively as he wrapped up the first set 6-1 in 27 minutes.
Federer continued his surge towards the final as he broke comfortably in the first game as Goffin offered no threat to the Federer serve.
The Belgian, who is chasing a spot at the world tour finals in London, saved multiple break points to keep the match relatively close.
However Federer broke again in the seventh game and wrapped up the match in under an hour to book his place into an incredible 12th Basel final.
He will now play Juan Martin Del Potro in the final as he looks to close the gap on Rafael Nadal at the top of the ATP World Tour rankings.
