25 time grand slam champion and World number two in doubles, Martina Hingis has blasted the recent attitude of Bernard Tomic saying ‘that he should work in a factory’.

Hingis was asked the question about Bernard Tomic, after her recent Mixed Doubles and Women’s Doubles victories with Jamie Murray and Yung-Jan Chan at the US Open. This was her response, ‘He should go work in a factory. Then he would see how it can be. I am glad to see somebody like Frances Tiafoe, who played against Roger, I know his story as he met him at the World Team Tennis event for the Washington Kastles.’

Later in the interview she continued to talk about the young American who has certainly impressed the legendary Swiss player, ‘He grew up in his local tennis club, where his father worked and wanted to play. It gives me so much pleasure to see someone who has so much passion for the game.’

It is obvious that the soon to be 37 year old isn’t happy with the Australian’s attitude towards tennis and would rather see someone like Tiafoe who has all the potential in the world as well as having the passion and desire to play tennis for years to come.

Bernard Tomic is currently the world number 146 and went out to Gilles Muller in the first round of the US Open in his last tournament.
