Sara Errani wasn’t very pleased to know the last minute news coming from Brisbane. After losing in straight sets to Belinda Bencic in the first tournament of the season in Australia, the Italian saw the top seeds of the tournament, respectively Simona Halep and Maria Sharapova, announcing their retirement last minute, when the draw not only was already pitted, but matches had already been played.
Sara decided to take on her Twitter account to complain publicly about the events. Here is Sara’s Tweet:
The translation cites literally: “How many main draws you intend to screw up?” with the addition of the hashtag #justtoknow
The Italian is clearly referring to either Simona or Maria. It is not clear now to know certainly whom the former French Open finalist addressed her complain to.
Errani could have been included in the seeded players if Halep or Sharapova were to announce their retirement before the draw ceremony, thus not having to face such a tough competition as Bencic already on her debut match.
