Spaniard Nicolas Almagro has married his girlfriend in his home town of Murcia.
The thirty-year old married long-term partner Rafi Lardin. November and December are the most popular times for players to marry, as it is the only period where there is an extended break from the tour. Almagro joins compatriots David Ferrer and Marc Lopez, as well as American Tim Smyczek in marrying in 2015.
Almagro has struggled for the past couple of years since a combination of shoulder and foot injuries caused him to miss a significant portion of the 2014 season, and some of 2015. Earlier that year Almagro produced his best ever Grand Slam performance, as he served to take his place in a Grand Slam semi-final for the first time at the Australian Open. However, he failed to serve out against David Ferrer, and eventually lost in five.
Now ranked seventy-three, after using a protected wildcard to improve his ranking from a place outside the top 100, Almagro will look forward to recapturing the form that saw him break the top ten of the ATP rankings.
Almagro’s most consistent career performance have come on clay, the surface that he has won all of his ATP titles on to date, but he has struggled to trouble his more illustrious compatriots Ferrer and Nadal, as well as Federer, Djokovic, and Murray.
