The Draw Ceremony of the 2015 Davis Cup Final was held this afternoon at the Flanders Expo in Ghent, the venue of this weekend’s clash between Belgium and Great Britain.
Belgian top player David Goffin will play against British 20-year-old player Kyle Edmund in the inaugural match. Edmund, who recently won a ATP Challenger title in Buenos Aires beating Carlos Berloq, will become the first player to make the Davis Cup debut in a Final since 2003. Goffin and Edmund will meet for the first time in their careers.
World Number 2 Andy Murray will take on Ruben Bemelmans in the second match. It will be their first head-to-head match.
Belgian captain Johan Van Herck has picked Bemelmans instead of Steve Darcis who will be rested ahead of the doubles match on Saturday
Andy Murray will team up with his elder brother Jamie in the doubles match against Kimmer Coppejans and Steve Darcis.
On Sunday David Goffin will clash against Andy Murray in the first reverse rubber. It will be a re-match of the recent second round clash at the Paris Bercy Masters 1000 where Murray crushed Goffin with 6-1 6-1. In the second Sunday’s reverse rubber Bemelmans will face Edmund. .
Great Britain will be bidding to win their 10th Davis Cup title but their first since 1936 when British legend Fred Perry contributed to the last British triumph in this event. Belgium will play in their first Davis Cup final since 1904 when they lost against Great Britain.
About 13000 fans are expected to turn out this weekend at the Flanders Expo
