Novak Djokovic has improved his perfect record to 26-0 with his 6-2 6-1 win over Chinese wild-card Ze Zhang which qualified him for the quarter finals of the ATP 500 in Beijing. Thanks to this victory the five-time China Open champion tied Jimmy Connors’ second longest winning streak at an ATP event with 26 consecutive wins Connors scored a 26-0 winning record in Birmingham (Alabama) between 1974 and 1980. Only Rafa Nadal has a better record with 31 consecutive wins  at the Roland Garros between 2005 and 2009.

Djokovic is unbeaten in five appearances in Beijing and won five titles in Beijing five times at the China Open in 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2014 (he did not take part in this tournament in 2011).

“I guess as I keep coming back each year with that positive record. It gives me more confidence knowing that I played so well in the past on this court. I just keep on going. There is no particular reason. There is a few things that play in my favour”, said Djokovic
