Former British number one Tim Henman has praised Emma Raducanu’s fighting spirit as her run at the Miami Open came to an end at the quarter-final stage.

It was an incredible run from Emma Raducanu at the Miami Open as she won four matches on her way to the quarter-finals in Florida.

There were wins for Raducanu Sayaka Ishii, Emma Navarro, McCartney Kessler and Amanda Anisimova before a three set defeat against Jessica Pegula ended her campaign.

The loss against Pegula displayed Raducanu’s fighting spirit and Tim Henman believes there are lots of positives for Raducanu to take from the tournament, “Emma played a really, really good match but she lost to the better player,” Henman was quoted by tennisuptodate.com as saying to Sky Sports.

“She fought so hard. You know, two very tight, first two sets. I thought Emma did so well to get that second set. She looked a little bit fatigued but she started being more aggressive to try and keep the points short, looking to take the game to Pegula.

“When she got that second set, you thought there is a chance but Pegula showed her hard court experience and you know just raised that level. So full credit to Pegula for getting through to the semi-finals but there is no doubt that Raducanu will be take so many positives from her run in Miami.”

It was Raducanu’s best tournament since winning the US Open in 2021 and the Brit now returns to the world’s top 50.

The next tournament for Raducanu will be in Rouen where she will begin her clay court season on the week of the 14th of April.
