Lorenzo Musetti came back from one set down to beat Felix Aliassime 4-6 6-2 6-3 after 2 hours and 26 minutes reaching the fourth round at the Miami Open for the second consecutive year. Musetti earned back-to-back wins for the second time this season
Auger Aliassime converted his fifth break point in the 18-point seventh game of the second set to take a 4-3 lead. The Canadian player saved three break-back points in the eighth game before serving out the first set 6-4 at love in the 10th game.
Musetti converted his second break point at deuce in the fourth game to take a 3-1 lead. Auger Aliassime broke straight back at 15 in the fifth game for 2-3. Musetti converted his fifth break point in the sixth game and held serve at 15 in the seventh game. Musetti closed out the second set 6-2 with a break on his third set point.
Musetti broke serve on his first opportunity at deuce in the fourth game to take a 3-1 lead. The Italian player saved two break points in the fifth game to hold serve after three deuces and dropped just one point on his next service games to seal the win on his first match point with a serve and volley.
Auger Aliassime fired 11 aces compared to just one for Musetti. The Canadian player made four double faults. Musetti converted four of his 14 break points to win his first match against a top 20 player since he beat Alexander Zverev in the quarter finals in Vienna last October. Musetti will face Novak Djokovic, who beat Ugo Camilo Carabelli 6-1 7-6 (7-1).
