Andrey Rublev beat Christopher Eubanks 6-4 6-3 to reach the quarter final at the Oper Occitanie in Montpellier. Rublev has earned his first win of the 2025 season after losing his first round matches to Fabian Maroszan in Hong Kong and to Joao Fonseca at the Australian Open.
Rublev has extended his lead to 2-0 in his head-to-head matches against Eubanks.
Rublev broke serve in the fifth game to win the first set 6-4. The Russian player earned two breaks in the fifth and ninth games to win the second set 6-3.
Rublev will face either Arthur Rinderknecht or Nikoloz Basilashvili in the quarter final.
Felix Auger Aliassime overcame Arthur Cazaux 6-4 7-6 (7-5). The Canadian player won the ATP 250 title in Adelaide earlier this month.
Auger Aliassime won the first set 6-4 with a break in the opening game. The Canadian player went up an early break to take a 1-0 lead at the start of the second set. Cazaux broke back in the fourth game to draw level to 2-2.
Cazaux earned an early mini-break to take a 2-1 lead. Auger Aliassime pulled back on serve for 2-3. Cazaux won two consecutive points on return to open up a 5-2 lead. Augere Aliassime reeled off five consecutive points to win the tie-break 7-5.
Auger Aliassime set up a quarter final match against Buyunchaokete, who cruised past Constant Lestienne 6-2 6-1.
