The WTA has revealed four more winners of the WTA honours in recognition for their stand-out performances during the 2024 season: Renzo Furlan (Coach of the Year), Ons Jaabeur (Karen Krantzcke Sportsmanship Award and Peachy Kellmeyer Player Service Award) and Aryna Sabalenka (Jerry Diamond Aces Diamond).
Coach of the year: Renzo Furlan.
Renzo Furlan has been recognized as the 2024 Coach of the Year by WTA registered coaches. The Italian coach has guided Jasmine Paolini to her first WTA 1000 title in Abu Dhabi and two back-to-back Grand Slam finals at Roland Garros and Wimbledon. Paolini started the season as a top-30 player and rose to world number 4 by the end of the year. Paolini won the Olympic gold medal in doubles with Sara Errani and qualified for the WTA Finals in both singles and doubles.
Paolini became the first woman to reach both the Roland Garros and Wimbledon finals in the same season since Serena Williams in 2016.
She also reached the Round of 16 at the Australian Open and at the US Open achieved her best results at these Grand Slam tournaments. She became the first Italian player to qualify for the WTA Finals in ten years She won the Billie Jean King Cup for Italy.
Karen Krantzcke Sportsmanship Award: Ons Jabeur
Peachy Kellmeyer Player Service Award: Ons Jabeur
Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur received double honours in 2024 once again, receiving the Karen Krantzcke Sportsmanship Award and the Peachy Kellmeyer Player Service Award. Jabeur has become the first player to win both awards back-to-back. The Karen Krantzcke Sportsmanship Award has been given to Jabeur in recognition for her gracious manner, support for fair play and respect for others on and off the court. The Peachy Kellmeyer Player Service Award recognizes her support for her fellow players, as well other initiatives on behalf of wider player community.
Jabeur reached back-to-back finals at Wimbledon and the 2022 US Open final. She won five career titles: Birmingham 2021, Madrid and Berlin 2022, Ningbo and Charleston in 2023.
Jerry Diamond ACES Award: Aryna Sabalenka
The ACES Award has been introduced in 1995 in memory of WTA CEO Jerry Diamond. World number 1 Aryna Sabalenka has been presented for her memory and her dedication to promote women’s tennis to fans, media and local communities. The world number 1 took part in off-court promotional and charitable activities. Sabalenka joins a list of past prestigious winners which includes Angelique Kerber, Elina Svitolina and Jessica Pegula.
Sabalenka defended her Australian Open title and won the US Open title during a successful 2024 season. She won two WTA 1000 titles in Cincinnati and Wuhan and finished runner-up in two back-to-back WTA 1000 finals in Madrid and Rome and reached the WTA 500 final in Brisbane.
