Chile’s Nicholas Jarry came back from one set down in his 2-6 6-4 7-6 (9-7) win over Elias Ymer to reach the second round at the BNP Paribas Nordic Open in Stockolm.

Ymer broke twice in the sixth and eighth game to win the first set 6-2. The Swedish player went up a set and a break in the third game to take a 2-1 lead. Jarry broke straight back in the fourth game to draw level to 2-2. Jarry saved five break points in a six-deuce sixth game before breaking serve in the seventh game and served out on his first set point in the 10th game.

Both players traded mini-breaks at the start of the tie-break of the third set. Ymer went up 7-6 and served for the match but Jarry saved a match point before winning three consecutive points to close out the match after 2 hours and 26 minutes.

“The end was very difficult for both. We were playing great points. We were both very strong mentally, non giving any chances. I am happy that at the end that I was able to be a little bit more aggressive. I served very well in the tie-break and did not give him any opportunities”, said Jarry.

Miomir Kecmanovic beat Cameron Norrie 6-4 6-4. Kecmanovic won 62% of his second serve return points. Norrie was playing in his first match since a forearm injury last July.

British qualifier Jacob Feamley won his first tour level match on hard court by beating Corentin Moutet 6-2 7-6 (7-5). Feamley won four Challenger titles and made his top 100 debut last month.

Alexander Muller beat Leo Borg 6-2 7-6 (7-5). Laslo Djere cruised past Pedro Martinez 6-2 6-0 to set up a second round match against Tommy Paul.
