Grigor Dimitrov has spoken about his personal development as he earned a place back inside the world’s top ten.
The Bulgarian claimed a first win over Alexander Zverev since 2014 with a 6-4 6-7(4) 6-4 victory over the German.
A win that means Dimitrov is into a second Masters 1000 final in the space of four months.
However the achievement in Miami also signals a return to the world’s top ten for the first time since 2018 for Dimitrov.
Speaking after his stunning achievement Dimitrov spoke about his personal development and growth as he is in one of the best moments of his career, “I fight my own battles right now. I run my own race,” the Bulgarian told the ATP website.
“I think all that comes with all the work that we have put in as a team. I’m on a very different path in my life, in my career. There’s a lot that was done, a lot of work, a lot of everything behind it. I kept on believing, I kept on thriving, I kept on having faith in myself… This is just the cherry on the cake.”
Dimitrov deserves a lot of credit for reviving his career as he aims to win a second Masters 1000 title of his career.
In the final in Miami Dimitrov will now play Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner with the Italian leading their head-to-head 2-1.
