Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina will renew their rivalry in the Brisbane rivalry after beating Victoria Azarenka and Linda Noskova respectively.
Starting with Sabalenka, the Australian Open champion defeated compatriot Azarenka 6-2 6-4 in 90 minutes to book a spot in the final.
The world number two is starting this season in a similar fashion as she did last year as she remains tough to beat in Australia as she dominated a limp Azarenka, who suffered with a knee injury during the contest.
Next for Sabalenka will be world number four Elena Rybakina as the Kazakh cruised past Linda Noskova 6-3 6-2.
The match will be a repeat of last year’s Australian Open as both players are yet to drop a set this week.
Speaking after her win over Noskova, Rybakina admitted she is pleased to be in the final as she revealed being sick before arriving in Brisbane, “I didn’t expect I would play that well this week. It’s an amazing start to the year for me,” Rybakina was quoted by Yahoo Sport as saying.
The final will be the eighth meeting between the two players with Sabalenka leading the head-to-head 5-2.
