However a tough task awaits in the last eight as he takes on Alexander Zverev, who beat Cameron Norrie in a fifth set tiebreak.
After the match Alcaraz described the match as ‘tough’ and detailed how difficult it is to play against Zverev, “So it’s going to be a really tough quarterfinal against Sascha. Hopefully to make the semifinal here, but let’s see how it’s going to be the next match,” Alcaraz explained.
“Well, he is a really great player. He has beaten great guys here in this tournament. Obviously I love playing against him. It’s always a tough battles. I have to play my best level. He push me to play my 100% every time.
“The last time we face each other, I lost. So I have to be focus on that. I have to improve my level from that match. I’m going to enjoy. I’m going to enjoy that match.”
As Alcaraz hinted in his answer, the Spaniard doesn’t have the best head-to-head record as Zverev leads 4-3 with the German winning their last meeting at the Nitto ATP Finals.
