Nine Grand Slam champions will be in the spotlight at the 2024 Brisbane International. It’s one of the best fields ever assembled in the history of the Brisbane tournament.

Former world number 1 Rafael Nadal will be joined by Andy Murray, Naomi Osaka, Aryna Sabalenka, Elena Rybakina, Jelena Ostapenko, Victoria Azarenka, Sofia Kenin and Sloane Stephens.

Nadal will make his come-back in Brisbane after suffering a hip injury in the second round at the 2023 Australian Open and underwent surgery last June.

Brisbane will provide an opportunity to prepare for the Australian Open. Nadal came back from two sets down to beat Danil Medvedev after an epic 5-hour and 24-minute Australian Open final. The Spanish legend claimed his 21st Grand Slam title in Melbourne and went on to win his 22nd title at Roland Garros.

“I have been working hard and feeling much better in the last couple of weeks, so I feel ready to announce that I will be back in Brisbane in the first week of January”, said Nadal.

The line-up will feature former world number 1 and three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray, eight-time ATP singles winner and 2017 Brisbane International Grigor Dimitrov, Ben Shelton and world number 20 Ugo Humbert.

Holger Rune, winner at the 2022 Paris Bercy Masters 1000 tournament, will make his debut in Brisbane. The Danish player won the ATP 250 title in Munich and reached two finals in Monte-Carlo and Rome.

Shelton won his first ATP title in Tokyo and reached the semifinal at the US Open and the quarter final at the Australian Open and at the Shanghai Masters 1000 tournament.

“I am thrilled to be playing the Brisbane International for the first time in 2024. My first trip to Australia was last January, and it was such an amazing experience. The fans were so welcoming. I am looking forward to exploring Brisbane and playing in front of the local fans. Hopefully there will be a chance to fit in some sightseeing during my visit”, said Shelton.

Eight of the top 20 players in the WTA Ranking are set to play in the WTA 500 tournament.

Aryna Sabalenka will start her 2024 season in Brisbane. Sabalenka won the Adelaide International, the Australian Open and Miami and reached the finals in Indian Wells and Stuttgart.

Sabalenka will be joined by 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina, who reached the final at the Australian Open and won the Indian Wells final.

The line-up will also feature former world number 1 and three-time Brisbane International champion Karolina Pliskova and world number 12 Madison Keys, who reached the final in Brisbane 2020.
