Hubert Hurkacz beat Sebastian Korda 6-3 6-4 to reach his third Masters 1000 final at the Shanghai Rolex Masters.
Hurkacz did not face a break point and earned a break in each set to clinch the win on his second match point in 77 minutes.
Hurkacz moves within one win of clinching his second Masters 1000 title two years after his triumph in Miami. He also finished runner-up to Pablo Carreno Busta at the 2022 Canadian Open.
The Polish player has boosted his chances of qualifying for the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin. He has moved up to 13th in the ATP Live Race to Turin.
Korda beat Danil Medvedev in the fourth round and Ben Shelton in the quarter final en route to reach his first Masters 1000 semifinal.
“I am working on being difficult to play against. It’s the same with every opponent. They try to come out with their best foot forward that day and they are trying implement their tactics or plan against you. You have just got to stay mentally strong and really battle”, said Hurkacz.
