“I think since Roland Garros my tennis was changing. I was winning at least one match in every single tournament. Obviously this is not my year, so this is why it is great to have these kinds of tournaments at the end of the year. I think it was a great match. At some point he started to serve much better, so it was very difficult for me”, said Schwartzman.

Schwartzman set up an all South American fourth round match against Chile’s Nicholas Jarry, who beat Lorenzo Sonego 7-6 (7-4) 6-2.

Jarry earned the first break point in the ninth game of the first set with a forehand, but Sonego saved it with an ace. Both players traded mini-breaks in the tie-break. Jarry earned two more mini-breaks and closed out the first set on his second set point.

Jarry earned the break in the fourth game of the second set to take a 3-1 lead with a backhand down the line. Sonego did not convert a break point in the fifth game. Jarry broke serve on his fourth match point to close out the third set 6-2. Andrey Rublev cruised past Frenchman Adrian Mannarino 6-3 6-0 after 63 minutes to end the Frenchman’s eight-match winning streak.
