Daniil Medvedev defeated Novak Djokovic 6-4 6-4 to reach his third consecutive ATP final in Dubai.

Medvedev has now reached his third consecutive ATP final after claiming the title in both Rotterdam and Doha.

The Russian secured an impressive victory over Djokovic, with the Serb losing his first match since November.

Medvedev only committed 12 unforced errors in comparison to Djokovic’s 38 as he secured a straight sets victory in 95 minutes.

After the match Medvedev was happy he produced his best tennis, “When you play against Novak you just have to play your best,” Medvedev told the ATP website.

“Kind of hope he doesn’t play his best on the day because when he plays his best, well he has 22 Grand Slams, so even if you play your best, it is going to be tough, not sure you win.

“I managed to play a higher level than him today. In the second set I didn’t face one break point, but there were so many 30/30 games. But I managed to stay composed and I am happy to be in the final tomorrow.”

Medvedev will now look to capture not only his third title in the space of three weeks but also an 18th career tour-level title.

Next for Medvedev will be Andrey Rublev in tomorrow’s final after Rublev defeated Alexander Zverev 6-3 7-6(9).

It was Rublev’s first win over the German in six attempts as he looks to successfully defend his Dubai title.

Tomorrow Rublev will look to win a sixth ATP 500 title and a 13th ATP title when he takes on Medvedev.

It will be the sixth time the pair will meet with Medvedev leading the current head-to-head 4-2.
