Cameron Norrie beat Andrey Rublev 6-2 6-4 in 75 minutes to reach the quarter finals at Indian Wells. Norrie converted all five of his break points. The British player has improved his win-loss record to 21-3 this season.

Norrie won his eighth consecutive match in a series that includes his ATP 500 title in Rio de Janeiro beating Carlos Alcaraz in the final. The British player won his first Masters 1000 title in Indian Wells in 2021.

The first set started with three consecutive service breaks. Norrie started the first set with an early break in the first game, but Rublev pulled back on serve to draw level to 1-1. Norrie broke straight back to take a 2-1 lead. The British player broke for the third time to close out the first set 6-2.

Norrie broke twice in the third and seventh game to open up a 5-2. Rublev saved the first match point in the next game and pulled one of the two breaks back.

Norrie served out the win on his second match point to draw level to 2-2 in his head-to-head matches against Rublev.

Norrie set up a quarter final match against Frances Tiafoe, who beat Chilean qualifier Alejandro Tabilo 6-4 6-4.

“Off the ground I was rock solid. It was a little cooler today, so I felt like I had more time on the ball. I played well in the big moments. Andrey is not an easy guy to beat, so I was really pleased to come through in straight sets”, said Norrie.
