Twelve-time ATP Tour titlist Andrey Rublev headlines the draw at the Adelaide 2 tournament from 9 to 15 January 2023. The top seed will face either Thanasi Kokkinakis or Alexei Popyrin will face Rublev in the second round. Rublev will try to bounce back from a first round defeat this week at Adelaide 1 against Roberto Bautista Agut in three sets.
Rublev could face sixth seed Serbia’s Miomir Kecmanovic in the quarter final. Kecmanovic will start his campaign against Kyle Edmund in the first round.
The first half of the draw also features Roberto Bautista Agut, who will play his first round match against either this year’s Pune finalist Benjamin Bonzi or US Maxime Cressy.
In the bottom of the draw last year’s Canadian Open champion Pablo Carreno Busta will face a qualifier before a potential quarter final match against Daniel Evans, who will face US Mackenzie McDonald in the first round and Sebastian Korda in the second round. Korda lost to Novak Djokovic in the final of the Adelaide 1 tournament after wasting a match point and will open the Adelaide 2 tournament against Emil Ruusuvuori.
Third seed and Olympic silver medallist Karen Khachanov will play against Arthur Rinderknech or 2022 Sofia Open champion Marc Andrea Huesler.
British Next Gen player Jack Draper will take on last year’s Metz Open champion and world number 45 Lorenzo Sonego.
Last year’s Next Gen ATP Finals champion Brandon Nakashima will meet Monte-Carlo Masters 1000 finalist Alejandro Davidovich Fokina
