Defending champion Andrey Rublev beat Borna Coric 7-6 (7-4) 6-4 to reach the semifinals at the Mubadala World Tennis Championships. It was a tight match, which featured just one break of serve.
Rublev saved the only break point in the first game of the opening set, which went on serve en route to the tie-break. Rublev earned a mini-break to take a 4-3 lead in the tie-break. Coric dropped another point on serve when he was facing a set point.
Neither player faced a single break point until the ninth game, when Coric faced two break points. Rublev converted his second break point at deuce to take a 5-4 lead and served out at 30 in the 10th game with an ace down the middle.
Rublev set up a semifinal clash against world number 1 Carlos Alcaraz.
