Dominic Stricker is the first Swiss player in history to qualify for the Intesa San Paolo Next Gen ATP Finals to be staged from 8 to 12 November at at the Allianz Cloud in Milan.
Stricker has won two ATP Challenger tournaments in Columbus (Ohio) on hard court and Zug (Switzerland) on clay in 2022. He has a record of 7-5 against players, who are ranked inside the top 100. He beat Botic Van de Zandschulp in the first round at the European Open in Antwerp as a qualifier.
Stricker ended 2020 as World number 3 junior before achieving a career-high world number 116 in October 2022. The young Swiss player won the 2020 French Open boys’ singles title beatin his compatriot Leandro Riedi in the final. He also won the doubles title teaming up with Italian Next Gen player Flavio Cobolli. He became the first player to win both singles and doubles titles at Roland Garros boys’ tournament since 1998.
He reached two quarter finals in 2021 in ATP Tour debut in Geneva as wild card and in his second ATP Tour main draw in Stuttgart on grass. He beat Maxime Cressy in the first round of the Swiss Open in Basel as 20-year-old wild card to become the youngest Swiss player to earn a win in Basel since Roger Federer in 2000.
Stricker joins Lorenzo Musetti, Holger Rune, Jack Draper, Brandon Nakashima, Jiri Lehecka, Chen—Hsin Tseng and Francesco Passaro.
Musetti, Rune and Nakashima will make their second appearance at the Next Gen ATP Finals. Nakashima reached the semifinals in last year’s edition.
Musetti will be joined by Passaro in the field. Two Italian players will compete in the same edition for the first time of the Next Gen ATP Finals.
