The 2021 US Open champion has struggled with injuries throughout her first full season on the WTA main tour.
Emma Raducanu has made more changes to her coaching team, including the addition of fitness trainer Jez Green, who played a significant role in Andy Murray’s glory-filled years.
The Brit has also parted ways with coach Dmitry Tursunov after the former top 20 singles player decided to pursue other options. Tursunov enjoyed a fruitful relationship with Anett Kontaveit towards the end of 2021, where the Estonian rose to number two in the world and seemed to help improve Raducanu’s recent form.
The 2021 US Open champion had a positive 8-7 record with Tursunov in her team, and defeated Victoria Azarenka and Serena Williams in an eye-catching run in Cincinnati. Raducanu is currently recovering from a wrist injury, which kept her out of the Transylvania Open in Cluj, Romania, her father’s natal country.
She faces a race against time to be fit for the Billie Jean King Cup
Finals in a few weeks time in Glasgow. The 19-year-old, currently ranked 68 in the world, has had a year blighted by injuries to her hip, back and blisters, but is still the second highest ranked teenager in the WTA rankings.
Many eyebrows have been raised over the number of coaches Raducanu has gone through in the last year and a half, after splitting from Nigel Sears, Andrew Richardson and Torben Beltz.
However, her results have picked up over the last couple months, and considering the addition of Jez Green, she will be optimistic of an injury-free run next season, where she will be more used to the physical demands of the tour.
