“Albeit it does move” Galileo Galilei is said to have exclaimed while leaving the courtroom, at the end of the trial for heresy set up by the Catholic Church. The scientist was alluding to the earth revolving around the sun but could have uttered the same words after casting a glance at the first twenty positions of the ATP Ranking published on 18/07. Indeed, some fine-tuning can be noticed in the Top 20: Dimitrov, Bautista Agut and Monfils make some progress, whereas Pablo Carreno Busta slips to No. 23.

As it often happens when the week is filled with ATP 250 events, the most interesting changes occur in the rear rankings; in particular at No. 30 and 32 we encounter the two Argentinian players who duelled for the Bastad crown: Francisco Cerundolo and Sebastian Baez, winner and runner up respectively. The winner at Newport, the player who has been delighting serve & volley lovers, Maxime Cressy, rises to No. 33. These three players achieved their career best.

The ranking relating to the best players of the ongoing season moves as well: Andrey Rublev, though defeated by Sebastian Baez in the semi-finals at Bastad, gains one position, overtaking Auger Aliassime.
