Ajla Tomljanović’s run to the fourth round of Wimbledon has brought delight to her camp but it has also created a bit of a headache too.

The world No.44 sealed her place in the fourth round on Saturday by fighting back from a set down to defeat former French Open champion Barbora Krejčíková 2-6, 6-4, 6-3. It is the second year in a row the 29-year-old has secured a place in the last 16 after reaching the quarter-finals in 2021. Unseeded in this year’s draw, she has also defeated Jil Teichmann and Catherine Harrison earlier in the week.

Coming in, you’re not seeded so you don’t know what can happen,” said Tomljanović. “Even if you are, it’s a slam. There are always upsets.  I don’t know what my form was coming in, but I just knew that I could produce good tennis, but actually doing it, it feels really nice. It just kind of confirms that I maybe do belong here.”

Whilst enjoying a solid run on the court, it has also caused a slight issue for the tennis star who has to move accommodation whilst playing at the tournament. As for the reason why? Her father only booked her stay until last Friday.

“I was like (to my father) ‘You thought I’d lose the second round?’ At least book it until Sunday so it’s a good problem to have. I’m not really satisfied with being in the third round and then moving houses.” She commented on the issue.
“The problem was it’s so hard to find something. London is packed, and I didn’t want to stay an hour away. He was very — he didn’t take it well.”

In wake of the dilemma, Tomljanovic did manage to find a new hotel which she scribes as near to the tennis courts and ‘cute.’

Although now she has reached the second week of Wimbledon, did her father learn from his mistake and book the new hotel for a longer period?

“Today when I finished, he’s like, ‘Oh, I have to book again.’ I was like, ‘You’re kidding me?’ He wasn’t kidding, but he managed to book the same. Hotel, so I have a room probably until Tuesday,” she commented.

Krejčíková is only the second top 20 player Tomljanović has beaten on the grass in her career.
