The Championship match is finally upon us.

And Spain’s Rafa Nadal can cement further history.

If he wins, it would secure a record extending 22nd Grand Slam title, the most by any man in the Open Era.

As well as an unprecedented 14th French Open title in his 14th final.

But the young challenger in Casper Ruud is the first man from Denmark to ever make a Grand Slam final.

The 23-year-old is looking to upset the odds and stun Nadal.

Our experts James Spencer and Tony Fairbairn forecast who wins the La Coupe des Mousquetaires.

Rafa Nadal (5) vs Casper Ruud (8)

Tony Fairbairn:

“Nadal will have to serve better than he did in his semi-final to have a chance, otherwise, Ruud will punish the Spaniard.

Ruud’s defensive solidity and aggressive patterns of play should give him a good chance here.

It will all depend on Nadal’s physical state but if the Spaniard is at his best physically then he should come through a tight match.

Prediction: Nadal in four sets.

James Spencer:

“This promises to be interesting being the first ever match between the two.

I’m still going to go for Nadal.

I think he will have the steely eye of a champion and will be looking to deliver a professional performance.

Expect some nerves from Rudd being in the biggest match of his life, that’s to be expected.

With all the injuries Nadal has faced of late, I think he will be keen to show he still has what it takes to win the biggest tournaments in tennis.

A 22nd Grand Slam would further reinforce his legendary status in the sport.

Prediction: “Nadal in straight sets.”
