Wild cards Hubert Hurkacz and John Isner teamed up for the first time in 2022 to win the Miami Open doubles final over Wesley Woolhof and Neal Skupski 7-6 (7-5) 6-4.
Isner completed the Sunshine Double after winning at Indian Wells with his compatriot Jack Sock two weeks ago.
Hurkacz and Isner beat three Grand Slam doubles winners Krawietz/Mies, Ram/Salisbury, Kokkinakis/Kyrgios before beating Koolhof and Skupski, who won three doubles titles earlier this year.
Hurkacz won the singles title in 2021, while Isner had triumphed in the singles tournament in Florida in 2018.
It was a great day for Poland, as Iga Swiatek had beaten Naomi Osaka in the women’s singles tournament.
Isner and Hurkacz went down a mini-break in the tie-break of the opening set. They won five of the next six points to seal the first set tie-break 7-5.
Isner and Hurkacz saved three break points at 1-1 before earning a decisive break on the match point on Koolhof’s serve.
“It’s a pleasure playing with Hubi. He does so many things so well, and he has got so much doubles skill. It’s so much fun for me”, said Isner.
