In a very strange twist of fate, world number 31 Frances Tiafoe will face brothers back-to-back after seeing off 20-year-old Argentine Juan Manuel Cerúndolo.

The American came through in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 against the world number 122.

His older brother will be up for revenge though, after 23-year-old Francisco Cerúndolo upset Gaël Monfils; 6-2, 6-3.

The Cerúndolo’s are only the third siblings to reach the round of 32 at the Miami Masters.

Tiafoe has been slowly building his fitness back up, and has only featured at Indian Wells, since the Australian Open.

After overcoming countryman Brandon Nakashima from a set down, he will fancy his chances of going onto the last eight in Miami, and possibly further.

Meanwhile, Britain’s Cameron Norrie soared into the round of 16 with an efficient display against young Frenchman Hugo Gaston. The British number one edged it 6-3, 7-5.

He will play the sixth seed Casper Rudd next, as the Dane saw off Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan; 6-3, 6-2.

Italy’s Jannik Sinner kept his hopes of a first Masters 1000 victory alive as he came back to beat Pablo Carreño Busta.

The dangerous Spaniard going down; 5-7, 7-5, 7-5.

It doesn’t get any easier for Sinner though as he faces a very in-form Nick Kyrgios next.

The Australian destroyed Italy’s Fabio Fognini; 6-2, 6-4 with little stress.

Things are shaping up nicely in Miami.

Daniil Medvedev still appears to be the player to beat, but how can you write off Nick Kyrgios in this kind of form.

Stefanos Tsitsipas is yet to win a hard-court Masters title and will surely kick his season into gear eventually.

Hubert Hurkacz won here last year so he will know how to get it done.

However, a player like Sinner might just catch fire and go all the way.

I certainly wouldn’t rule out Norrie adding to his Indian Wells title, and winning a 2021-2022 Sunshine Double, if you can count that.

Still all to play for on the East Coast.
