Sebastian Baez cruised past Juan Ignacio Londero 6-3 6-3 at the Chile Dove Men+Care Open in Santiago de Chile. Baez broke seven times.
The Argentine player, who reached the semifinal at the Next Gen ATP Finals in Milan last November, reached his second quarter final of the 2022 season after Cordoba. The former world junior world number 1 and six-time Challenger Tour champion is making his second apperance in Santiago de Chile after coming through the qualifying round.
“I feel good on the court in this place. It’s difficult to feel at home and here in Chile I feel that. That’s something extra for the tournament and my tennis, and that’s the most important, i think”, said Baez.
Baez set up a quarter final match against Thiago Monteiro, who rallied from one set down to beat Federico Delbonis 3-6 6-4 6-1 reaching his second quarter final of the season after Adelaide 2.
Argentina’s Facundo Bagnis cruised past Hugo Dellien 6-2 6-2 after saving one of the two break points he faced.
Bagnis dropped just seven games in his first two matches in Santiago de Chile to reach his first ATP Tour quarter final since last year’s edition of the Santiago tournament, where he lost to Cristian Garin in the title match. The Argentine player set up a quarter final match against Albert Ramos Vinolas, who beat Carlos Taberner 6-2 7-6 (7-4).
