Hubert Hurkacz fought back from one set down to beat Dominik Koepfer 4-6 7-5 6-2 in 2 hours and 6 minutes reaching the quarter finals at the Rolex Paris Masters at the Accor Hotel in Paris Bercy.
With this win the Polish player has boosted his chances of qualifying for the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin.
Hurkacz set up a match against James Duckworth, who reached the first ATP Masters 1000 quarter final of his career.
Koepfer earned a break in the third game with a lob that Hurkacz could not return. The German lucky loser closed out the first set with an ace after 41 minutes.
The second set started with four consecutive breaks. Koepfer rallied from 0-40 down to hold serve at deuce when he was serving at 4-5. Hurkacz sealed the second set 7-5 with a break in the 12th game at love. Hurkacz earned a break in the sixth game to take a 4-2 lead, as Koepfer struck a backhand wide. The Pole converted his third break point to close out the third set 6-2 keeping his hopes alive of qualifying for the Nitto ATP Finals. Hurkacz won three ATP Tour matches in Delray Beach, Miami and Metz and 35 match wins. He holds the final automatic qualifying spot with 3135 points for the Nitto ATP Finals, 120 points ahead of Jannik Sinner, who lost to Carlos Alcaraz in the second round in Paris Bercy.
