German luck loser Dominik Koepfer saved seven match points to battle past 2016 Paris Rolex Masters champion Andy Murray 6-4 5-7 7-6 (9-7) after 3 hours and 1 minute on his debut at this tournament in the opening round at the Accorhotel Arena in Paris Bercy.
Koepfer, who won just three games in the final round of the qualifying round against Miomir Kecmanovic, took a 6-4 5-3 lead, but he was broken at love when he was serving for the match. Murray earned two match points on Koepfer’s serve at 5-4 in the third set and five more chances in the tie-break of the third set, but he was not able to convert them.

Djere led 3-0 in his previous head-to-head matches against Musetti in the semifinal of the 2020 Sardinia Open, in the quarter final of the Cagliari Open and in the Round of 16 at Nur Sultan.
Musetti had to save a break point in the opening game. Djere earned a break in the fifth game and held on his service games to win the first set 6-4.
Djere earned an immediate break in the first game of the second set, but Musetti pulled back on serve in the second game. Musetti saved two break points at 3-3 in the second set. Musetti earned an early mini-break in the tie-break to take a 5-3 lead, but Djere pulled back on serve to draw level to 5-5. Musetti earned the decisive mini-break on the 11th point to win the tie-break 7-5.
