Andy Murray will meet Stefanos Tsitsipas in the opening round at the US Open with Novak Djokovic looking to make more tennis history.
At this year’s US Open, Novak Djokovic could achieve something that only one man before him has achieved and that is win the calendar grand slam.
As the Serb looks to follow in the footsteps of Rod Laver, the world number one will need to overcame several obstacles including the likes of David Goffin, Alex De Minaur, Hubert Hurkacz and Matteo Berrettini in his quarter of the draw.
Djokovic will start with a qualifier in round one with Jan-Lennard Struff and Kei Nishikori being unseeded players awaiting him in the early stages.
In the other quarter of the top half of the draw, Olympic gold medallist Alexander Zverev begins against Sam Querrey with the tricky Alexander Bublik waiting in round three.
Also awaiting Zverev are big hitters such as Gael Monfils, Jannik Sinner and Reilly Opelka. While Denis Shapovalov is the main who might have the task of taking on the German in the last eight.
The Canadian will meet Federico Delbonis in the opening round with a mouth-watering clash between Karen Khachanov and Lloyd Harris taking the match of the half in the top half of the draw.
In the bottom half of the draw Stefanos Tsitsipas has been given an entertaining opening round when he faces three-time grand slam champion Andy Murray in his opening match.
Murray has recently lost to Hubert Hurkacz and Frances Tiafoe in Cincinnati and Winston-Salem as another tough test awaits him here.
Also in Tsitsipas’ section are Cameron Norrie, Ugo Humbert and Cristian Garin. While the Greek’s projected quarter-final is Cincinnati finalist Andrey Rublev.
The Russian will begin against a qualifier with Felix Auger-Aliassime awaiting in the last 16. The tie of that section of the draw will see 15th seed Roberto Bautista Agut take on Nick Kyrgios.
In the final quarter of the draw second seed and former finalist Daniil Medvedev will begin against Richard Gasquet, who is finding some form in Winston-Salem.
Medvedev could meet Grigor Dimitrov in the fourth round while Casper Ruud is his potential quarter-final.
Also in Ruud’s section is John Isner who will begin against talented rising youngster Brandon Nakashima.
