Stefanos Tsitsipas produced another sizzling performance to beat Pablo Carreno Busta 6-3 6-2 7-5 to reach the quarter-finals in Paris.
The world number five overcame a break deficit in the third set to reach the last eight at Roland Garros.
Next for Tsitsipas will either be Cristian Garin or second seed Daniil Medvedev.
It was a positive start from Tsitsipas who earned the early break through being the early aggressor and dictating points inside the baseline.
A 3-0 lead was established as his controlled aggression neutralised Carreno Busta’s objective to extend the rallies as much as possible.
It took the Spaniard a while to settle into the match with another break looming for Tsitsipas but he held his own with some clutch patterns of play.
Once Carreno Busta found his range, some entertaining rallies took place as the Spaniard’s defensive variation saw Tsitsipas have to work hard to finish off the points.
Despite the challenge from the 12th seed, Tsitsipas’s serving especially out wide came to his saviour as he was allowed to shorten the points on serve.
Having saved two break points in his previous service game, Tsitsipas closed out the opening set with an ace.
In the second set Tsitsipas raised his level further using the slice to slow down the points and then create the spaces in the court to hit simple powerful winners.
There was no effective counter-punching from Carreno Busta as Tsitsipas’ attacking play was simply too good in the opening four games.
A double break and a 4-0 lead put Tsitsipas in control as he was cruised to a two sets to love lead.
It seemed like a similar pattern would follow in the third set as Tsitsipas had opportunities to break.
However Carreno Busta held firm and surprisingly raised his level to take advantage of some sloppy Tsitsipas unforced errors.
The Spaniard raced to a 3-0 lead as the Greek dug himself into a bit of a slump after winning the first two sets so easily.
More patience was required in rallies as Carreno Busta continuously pounded shots from all angles into Tsitsipas.
Eventually Tsitsipas’ patience paid off as he went backhand-to-backhand with the Spaniard and an unforced errors from the 12th seed saw the set back on serve at 4-3.
Some aggressive Carreno Busta returning and shot-making continued to make life tricky for the Greek but Tsitsipas held firm as he was back on track in the third set.
In the end that was all that the Greek needed as he broke with ease in the tenth game and produced some clean hitting to serve out another straight sets win.
Another masterclass from Tsitsipas sees him into the last eight where he will play Cristian Garin or Daniil Medvedev on Tuesday.
