Top seed Cristian Garin will start his 2021 season against either Argentine Tomas Martin Etcheverry or a qualifier in the opening round of the Delray Beach Open this week. Garin won four clay titles in Houston and Munich in 2019 and Cordoba and Rio de Janeiro in 2020.
Garin has been drawn in the top-half section of the draw, which also features Hubert Hurkacz, Ivo Karlovic and Gianluca Mager.
The bottom half of the draw will feature John Isner, Sebastian Korda, Tommy Paul and Adrian Mannarino.
Second seed and former Miami Open champion John Isner will face either Thomaz Bellucci or Thiago Monteiro. Isner, who reached four Delray Beach semifinals in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2019, is level 2-2 against Bellucci in his four head-to-head matches against Bellucci and beat Monteiro in four tie-breaks at the 2020 Australian Open. Isner could face his compatriot Tommy Paul in the quarter finals.
Paul could face a second round against US Next Gen star Sebastian Korda, who will make his debut in Delray Beach against Soonwoo Kwon. Korda lost to Rafael Nadal in the fourth round at last autumn’s Roland Garros. Eighth seed Frances Tiafoe, who won the Delray Beach title in 2018, will open against a qualifier.
Mannarino will open his Delray Beach campaign against either Cameron Norrie or JC Aragone.
