The former partner of Alexander Zverev has said she is pregnant with his baby but doesn’t want to have anything to do with him in an interview with German magazine Gala.
Brenda Patea has claimed that she is 20 weeks pregnant with the world No.7 being the father. The two dated for roughly a year but broke up earlier this year. Patea is a model and former contestant on Germany’s ‘Next Top Model.’ Her Instagram account is followed by an estimated 273,000 people compared to Zverev who currently has 1.1 million.
“I’m 20 weeks pregnant and I am expecting a child from Alex,” she told Gala.
“There was a crisis (in our relationship) before because we have different views on life. Anyone who lives by the side of an athlete has to submit,”she added.
Patea says she currently has no contact with Zverev and intends to keep it that way even when her child is born. Although it is unclear as to the reason why. When asked about the prospect of sharing custody she replied ‘that is out of the question for me.’
“The child was not planned, but I will do everything to ensure that it grows up in a harmonious environment. I am in the fortunate position of being able to raise the child by myself. “ She stated.
There has been no comment from Zverev on the claims made by his former girlfriend. The US Open finalist is currently on an eight-match winning streak after winning back-to-back titles in Cologne. He is set to play at the Paris Masters and ATP Finals before the season ends.
At present there are six players ranked in the top 20 on the ATP Tour who are fathers. They are Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Roberto Bautista Agut, Fabio Fognini, Stan Wawrinka and Karen Khachanov.
